1. ¿What are the advantages of hiring a freelance translator or interpreter?

You will get a qualified and experienced professional translator, which is essential to obtain high quality results. Besides, it will allow you to closely monitor de process and communicate directly with the person who is translating or interpreting and giving him/her instructions. There is, indeed, a direct link with such translator without intermediaries, so you will count on a professional translator at lower costs.
2.¿What steps should I take to hire these translation or interpreting services?
First of all, you must request a quote by e-mail, phone or using the contact form, specifying the services you need and, if possible, all the details about the project (topic, word count, degree of specialization, etc. if you need a translation; topic, duration of the event, mode, etc. if you require interpreting services. Once I receive the request I will send you a quote within 24 hours, which you can either accept or reject. We will also agree a deadline as well as other details. You must then confirm acceptance of the quote via e-mail.
3. ¿Can you send me a quote if I do not send you the original document?
Yes, I can send you an approximate quote without commitment in 24 hours, but I always recommend providing the original text that is going to be translated or, at least, giving information about it, so that the rate and deadline are as accurate as possible. Otherwise, the quote will be provisional and could be modified once I receive the source text.
4. ¿How long does it take to get the translation?
The deadline is agreed when the quote is accepted and depends on the word count, topic and degree of specialization of the text. The more specialized and complex the document is, the more it will take to translate it accurately and, therefore, the longer the deadline will be in order to obtain a high quality result. However, once the deadline is set I commit myself to respect it and I do accept urgent requests prior negotiation of the conditions.
5. ¿Do you apply the same rate to all modes of interpreting?
No, the rate depends on the mode in which the interpreter works, as well as on the duration of the event. The client must take into account the circumstances of the meeting that is taking place and must provide as much information as possible to the interpreter, so that he/she can calculate the rate and prepare for the event.
